This week

I met at friend at the mall Monday morning and this morning at 5AM for a good 50 minute walk/jog. I'm really missing the insane D-1 workouts but so thankful for the 4 months I had there. I learned a lot and hope to continue incorporating some of the workouts into my routine.
Eating wise it's been a roller coaster ride again this week. Trying to take it one day at a time.
I'm really into posting on my other blog now and honestly don't have the energy right now to keep posting my food journals, especially since I haven't been as consistent lately. So, if you don't see any posts for awhile, don't worry. My goal is still finding ways to eat healthier and continue exercising. You can always catch me on Facebook or http://frugaladee.blogspot.com.

So grateful for your love, support and encouragement!

Honesty

Thanks Allison for prompting me to finally give an honest update. I've had a hard time sticking with WW this past week. I'm not really sure why I've struggled so much since Thursday but it's always more challenging to eat "good" on the weekends. Chris and I had an awesome date night Friday. We ate at Chili's and despite WANTING to eat bad I chose the guiltless grilled chicken platter and sides. However, I killed it at the movies with a box of raisinettes! And I'm finding that it's SO hard finding Weight Watchers dinner recipes that my family will like and eat. ARGH! I'm really stuck right now and it's super maddening because I desperately want to lose at least 15+ pounds. Honesty is the best policy so here it is. Not sure what tomorrow will bring. Thankful for a space to share in humility.

Another GREAT, kick-butt workout at D-1 boot camp this morning! Thursday marks the end of my journey there...I'm a bit sad. Unfortunately, I pulled a groin muscle so I'm in pain tonight. Hoping rest will help it recover so I can meet my friend to walk tomorrow morning at 5AM.

Fun day but I'm exhausted. Sorry for the short post...off to bed.

Taking a mini-break

As you've noticed, I haven't blogged for a few days. It's been an incredibly busy and FUN weekend! I'll be back on Weight Watchers wholeheartedly again tomorrow. I haven't been tracking my points well this weekend so I'm excited about the new week ahead.

Happy Mother's Day!

WW Journal 5/7

Today has been incredibly fun (see my other blog) BUT it didn't start off that way! I had my alarm set for 4:25AM so I could get to boot camp but sadly, I didn't hear my alarm go off and slept in until 8AM! The kids and Chris were still asleep as well so we scrambled like crazy to get out the door. I scarfed down two organic poptarts (because it was quick and easy) and thought I was only having about 6 points max - sadly I had an 11 point breakfast! Then, I kissed little man goodbye and told him to sleep well! Ha! I was fifteen minutes late to work and from there, my whole day was off. I helped a family clean out their basement from the flood and when I got home, stepped in the shower with my bra on! CRAZY! My points have been off all day. I did get to walk for about 30 minutes with a friend this afternoon so I got a little movement in. Thankful this day is ending.

WW Journal 5/6

Today has been much better, in regards to having self-control and eating healthy. I started my day at 5AM boot camp and it was another kick-butt 50-minute session. I literally felt like I was gonna puke - we worked extra hard today! I can tell I'm building strength because I'm able to do the exercises and running a little longer each time.

I met a sweet new friend (Melissa) at boot camp a few months ago and we decided today that we are going to be accountability partners and our goal is to both lose 30 lbs by August 1st. 60 pounds TOTAL! It's CRAZY, but I know it can be done or at least we can strive and work our hardest to get there. Chris and I celebrate our 10th anniversary August 5th so I'd LOVE to be back down to my pre-marriage weight. Mostly, I just want to be fit and healthy and get back into my "normal" clothes. I'm sick of big girl pants! My membership at boot camp ends at the end of next week but her contract isn't up until July. We've decided to meet at least 2-3 times a week around 5 or 5:30AM and walk/run around the Cool Springs Mall! So happy to finally have a workout partner.

Sabotage, no self-control, bombed! Today was a wash. And I'm not quite sure why I bombed. I kept track of my points up until late this afternoon and then the hunger and temptation overwhelmed me and I let it get the best of me. Right before dinnertime is always the hardest time for me because I want to snack, and I'm used to snacking.

It's super late and my goal is to still get up for boot camp at 4:25AM tomorrow so I'll end for now. I at least wanted to keep my commitment of posting even though I'd rather hide! Praying for strength tomorrow.

WW 5/4

I had a great start to the day at boot camp. It was SUPER HARD but so worth it! Then we got a sweet surprise at work when one of our friends in CA ordered pizzas for us and had them delivered around lunch. Thankfully, I counted points and didn't go overboard. I brought the rest of the pizza home for family dinner with Chris' parents and have had to make myself NOT have any! I'm CRAVING another piece!

Well, considering I over-ate and totally killed my points yesterday, I still managed to lose 3 lbs since last Monday. I'm guessing if I hadn't overdosed on food yesterday, I might've dropped a few more. I'll take it though! Encouraged to see 3 lbs slip away!!

Today was sweet with the kids. We were able to get out of the house for a little bit and managed to find a gas station that still had gas available and get a few things at the grocery store. Then we ventured out again for dinner to Chick-fil-a and met Chris there after he got off. 'Twas a great day off!

I just got of the treadmill after a fast-paced 30-min walk and 100 crunches on the exercise ball. And I'm gearing up for bootcamp tomorrow at 5AM.

Confession day! I blew it today. Yep. I promised Chris I'd make him some Starbucks-like blueberry scones and I couldn't resist the temptation to chow down when they came out of the oven. I was just gonna take a nibble to see how they turned out but they were soooo good. Then, I finished off a bag of chocolate chips....I had about 5 TBSPs which equals about 10 points. Sigh. Thankfully, I didn't blow it the rest of the day. I used self-control at dinner but to top it off, I haven't worked out either. Dang. Can you tell what I do when I'm stressed? EAT! Stressed because I was worried about Chris being out in the floods and storms. So thankful he's safe at home tonight when so many aren't.

Praying I won't let the guilt and shame from today carry over into tomorrow. My boss closed the office tomorrow so I get to spend the day with the kids again. YAY!!!

Blew my day....thank goodness for God's grace tomorrow!

Today has seriously been an insane weather day for Middle TN! It has rained almost non-stop all day and it's still pouring like crazy. So many areas around us are flooded and friends are having to evacuate their homes. And tomorrow is supposed to be worse. REALLY sad for Chris who has to work out in it all day tomorrow. Please pray for his safety.

I used too many flex points today and didn't get a workout in. As long as I get a workout in tomorrow (which I'm planning on), I'll be on track with my goal of exercising 5 days a week. Need to really watch my points more carefully tomorrow.

So thankful it's Friday! It's been a fun family day. We registered Brit for Kindergarten this afternoon and then had a nice family dinner at Jason's Deli and of course, ended up at Sweet Cece's again!

I got in about 15 minutes of strength training doing Dustin's Fit Moms for Life DVD (that you can get for FREE!) and then walked for 20 minutes on the treadmill.

It was such a gorgeous day here in Middle TN but the storms are coming! It's supposed to be nasty the rest of the weekend. Really hoping to get to the Farmer's Market tomorrow morning if it isn't pouring.

Hope you all had a great start to your weekend!

Little man (aka Thunder) woke up in the middle of the night with a bloody nose...poor baby gets them once or twice a month. I settled him back down after a few minutes and then overslept and didn't make it to boot camp. I did, however, just come in from a 30 minute walk/jog around our hilly neighborhood. Whew! It was super windy but the cool breeze felt so good.

My other blog FRUGALadee is finally up! It's really fun sharing stories, recipes, coupons, store deals, etc.!

I'm on day 4 back on WW and feel pretty good. Now that I'm eating less, I'm feeling hunger pains I haven't felt in years! :) It's good pain and so worth.

It's amazing how productive you can be when you get up early! I had a sweet quiet time, hit Harris Teeter at 6AM for their triple coupon deals, came back home and folded laundry and packed lunches all before 8AM. Even though I went to bed with a headache and it was still going strong when I woke up, I'm so thankful I didn't let it hold me back from getting up early! Normally, I would've used that as an excuse to stay in bed. Grateful for God's provisions and His timely healing.

I've really been tapping into my Flex points since I started back on WW Monday because I'm used to eating so much more during the day. Portion sizes are my struggle! Baby steps....

Off to work on my new blog...more details to come tomorrow!

It was an extra EARLY morning because Brit crawled into bed with us at 3:45AM!!! Which NEVER happens!! Then my alarm when off shortly after at 4:20AM. I could've made excuses and stayed in bed, but I chose to get my booty going! On my drive home, I heard a Tobymac song with this lyric, "If you gotta start somewhere, why not here? If you gotta start sometime, why not now?" I feel like this TOTALLY applies to where I am right now spiritually and physically. Love it!

And I read these verses a few weeks ago and they hit me hard! Proverbs 13:4 "the sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied."
Vs. 18 "He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame." Very convicting and motivating.

*SIDE NOTE: I'm still floored that I earned 7 activity points today. I thought it was TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE but according to the WW method, this is correct. SO EXCITED!

Here are the two WW recipes I used tonight for dinner (Sloppy Joes & Roasted Potatoes).

Gonna hit Harris Teeter at 6AM tomorrow for triples!

Sweet dreams!

Sloppy Joes

Makes 5 servings

Ingredients:

1 1/2 lbs ground turkey breast (I used 1 lb lean all natural beef)
Cooking spray
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
8 oz can, no salt added, tomato sauce
1 cup ketchup
1 1/2 tsp low-salt Worcestire sauce
1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 1/2 tbsp yellow mustard
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp dark brown sugar

Coat a non-stick skillet with cooking spray. Place over medium high heat
until hot. Add turkey breast, onion, and bell pepper. Cook until turkey is
browned, stirring to crumble. Drain in a colander and set aside. Wipe drippings
from skillet with a paper towel. Return turkey to skillet, add tomato sauce
and the rest of the ingredients. Cook over medium heat 10 minutes or until slightly thick.

POINTS: 6

Roasted Potatoes with Garlic

**I omitted the garlic!

Makes 8 servings.

1 pound tiny red potatoes, halved
1 head garlic, cloves separated but not peeled
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Arrange potatoes and garlic cloves in a 9 x 13-inch pan. Drizzle with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 40 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and garlic is soft. Squeeze the roasted garlic from the peels onto the potatoes. Mix together.

It's been a great day! My sis gave me a beautiful black & white flowered journal on vacation last week so it's now officially my WW journal so I can keep track of my points, workouts, and water intake. Brit and I made a batch of delicious Whole Wheat Zucchini Chocolate Chip muffins (2 pts per muffin). So yummy! And dinner was especially yummy tonight and I didn't go overboard! For my weight & height, my target points per day is 22. Plus, 35 flex points per week to use whenever I want!

Sadly, I let the kids play with my WW calculator so much that it's broken now! URGH! No worries, I found an online website that calculates points for me. I'll just have to be extra prepared ahead of time before eating out so I can calculate the points before hand. I also love Dottis Weight Loss Zone website. She has tons of WW recipes and restaurants with points values.

A friend just told me about the Women's Half Marathon coming up on September 25th and I've already started thinking about training for the Country Music Half Marathon next April. I said I'd NEVER run another Half but I might just change my mind!

Chris had another looooonnnnnggg day at work so I didn't get on the treadmill until 9:45. Just now wrapping up my workout. I'm off to bed so I can get up at 4:25AM and scoot over to D-1 for 5AM boot camp.

Thankful for an encouraging start back on Weight Watchers!

New journey

I'm quite sure most of my friends and faithful readers have given up on my blogging journals. I've really struggled the past few months with my journey spiritually and physically. Disney was AMAZING and our recent trip to the lake was incredible!

You'll probably roll your eyes when you read this (because it's only the trillionth time I've started over on my weight loss journey) but tomorrow is a NEW day! Thank God His mercies are NEW every day!

I'm recommitting to Weight Watchers starting April 26th. I don't want to bore you but most of my daily blogs will consist of my food journal for that day (God knows I need the accountability!), I'll list WW recipes, give updates on my spiritual journey in addition to my workouts. The numbers on the scale keep rising and it's getting out of control! I desperately need God's strength to stay committed.

When I did WW and walked 4-5 times a week back in 2007, I lost 30 lbs in 3 months. I'm praying for the same commitment and dedication to shed the pounds so I can be healthier and happier with who God is creating me to be.

Thank you for standing by me on my roller coaster rides!

T-12 and counting!

Only 12 days left until we reach the most magical place on earth! Ha! I got off my rump and dragged myself to D-1 for bootcamp this morn. It's always SO hard to get motivated to go but after, I always feel so much stronger and energized. The pounds still aren't shedding BUT I know I'm toning up, I can tell by the way my clothes are fitting these days.
This past weekend, I ate like a QUEEN! I didn't go overboard or anything but we did have dinner out with some great friends at a Japanese steakhouse and then went to an amazing yogurt shop after. In between dinner and yogurt, we played a round of laser tag so I probably burned a few calories! And then Saturday, I went to a baby shower at a wonderful tea room at an old plantation manor with some friends. Again, I ate some nice treats (little sandwiches, small scones, hot tea and a few treats). BUT, the cool thing is, even though I did have some sweets over the weekend, I HAVEN'T used that as an excuse to fall off the wagon. So grateful I'm continuing on a healthy path.
This week I need to up the water as I haven't been getting in a full gallon since the weekend.
Here's to a healthy and fit week ahead!

11 March 2010

"Get off your but!"

Alarm beeped at 4:25AM and I laid in bed for 5 minutes making excuses about why I couldn't get my buns out of bed. Thankfully, I made the best decision and got to bootcamp just in time for another kick butt session! Lots of running up and down stairs, burpies, sprinting and team exercises. Somewhere in between the huffing and puffing, I heard Coach Carter say, "You have to get off your but!" Not your backside, BUT the excuses we make. "But I can't workout because...." or "But I'm too tired..." This really slapped me in the face because I'm the QUEEN of using "but" statements! By the end of the session, we had one lap to go around the field and out of nowhere I was overcome with energy and sprinted like I've never done before! It felt so good...I can tell I'm building stamina and strength. Maybe I won't quit after all!

Still killing the water and laying off sugary/white flour foods. I can tell I'm toning up a little but not like I had hoped for. So, it's time to start counting calories again. I've been slacking in that department and obviously that's the key to getting the fat to melt off. I feel like I'm making good choices all around EXCEPT for keeping track of my caloric intake. Off to write in my journal....
